Dust devils dance across the cracked earth, mimicking the turmoil brewing in your gut. The sun beats down on Nolan's Gulch, baking the wooden buildings and the unyielding earth to a crisp. You squint, the sweat stinging your eyes as you watch the stagecoach pull into town, its arrival momentarily breaking the monotony of the day. A gruff voice cuts through the air, thick with the scent of stale beer and desperation. "Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in." A burly figure emerges from the saloon, his shadow stretching long and menacing in the afternoon sun. His eyes, hard and glinting, lock onto yours. "Thought we'd seen the last of you, Taylor." Your fists clench instinctively. The name grates on you, a brand seared into your soul. You force yourself to meet his gaze, refusing to yield. "I had business elsewhere." "Business? Or running scared?" He spits a stream of tobacco juice onto the parched ground, the sound echoing in the sudden silence. A ripple of unease passes through the small crowd that has gathered, their faces etched with a mixture of fear and anticipation. You feel the familiar heat rise in your chest, the anger threatening to consume you. Every muscle in your body tenses, coiled and ready to unleash. The injustice of it all, the years of simmering resentment, boils over. "Get out of my way, Crowley," you growl, your voice low and dangerous. He chuckles, a harsh, grating sound. "Or what, Taylor? You gonna cry to your pa?" The words are like a physical blow. Your vision blurs, the world narrowing to this one hateful figure. Crowley's face is a mask of smug satisfaction, and the air crackles with unspoken menace. It seems destiny awaits you down this path of righteous vengeance.

You start in 1.19 Maths at the start of class. Miss Wignall stands at the head of the classroom, her expression a mixture of weariness and forced enthusiasm. Tari Miller and Theo Haigh-Leonard saunter around the room, their eyes gleaming with a sense of self-importance as they boss around Benjamin-James Taylor to hand out the books. Your anger flares as you are ordered about. The humiliation stings. You grip the textbooks tighter, the paper threatening to tear under the pressure of your clenched fingers. Tari's eyes meet yours, a smirk playing on her lips, and you are temped to lash out. But you resist. The consequences would be severe, and you cannot risk further inflaming the situation. You methodically distribute the textbooks. Each step is a deliberate act of defiance, a silent scream against the injustice. As you approach Theo, he intercepts you, blocking your path with a deliberate swagger. "Careful there, Taylor," he sneers, his voice dripping with disdain. "Wouldn't want you dropping any of those books." Your jaw tightens, the muscles in your neck straining. You force yourself to meet his gaze, refusing to be intimidated. "Get out of my way, Haigh-Leonard." Theo laughs, a harsh, grating sound that echoes through the classroom. "Or what, Taylor? You gonna cry to your pa?" The words are a deliberate provocation, a calculated attempt to push you over the edge. Your vision blurs, the world narrowing to this one hateful figure. You fight to control your anger, to maintain a semblance of composure. The classroom holds its breath, the air thick with tension. Miss Wignall watches from the front of the room, her eyes wide with apprehension.

The books become weapons in your hands, a swift, brutal arc as you slam them into Theo and Tari. They stumble back, a collective shout of surprise and pain erupting from their lips. You don't wait to assess the damage, you just turn and run. The classroom explodes into chaos. Chairs scrape against the floor, voices rise in a cacophony of shock and outrage, but you push it all behind you. The door swings open, and you burst out into the corridor, your heart hammering against your ribs. Behind you, you hear Miss Wignall's voice, calling your name, sharp with concern. "Benjamin-James! Stop!" But you don't stop. You can't. You sprint down the corridor, ignoring the curious stares of other students, driven by a desperate need to escape. Then Theo's voice cuts through the noise, amplified by fury and humiliation. "Benjamin-James likes Lydia Pynchbeck! And Annabelle-Grace! And Lillian Cheesebrough! He's got a thing for Sophie Baka!" The words are a brand, searing your skin. You stumble, your face burning with shame and rage. The snickers and whispers follow you as you push through the exit doors and into the open air. You don't slow down, you can't slow down. You keep running, the echoes of Theo's taunts ringing in your ears, each name a fresh wave of mortification. Miss Wignall continues to chase you, her footsteps echoing behind you as you reach the edge of the school grounds.
