The rich aroma of cocoa fills the air as the waitress, her smile warm and efficient, retreats from your table. The clinking of china and the low hum of conversation create a comforting backdrop in the Swiss café. Anne and Margot Frank sit across from you and Katie, their faces flushed with the faint rosy glow of the afternoon sun filtering through the large windows. Anne takes a delicate sip of her hot chocolate, a dusting of cocoa powder clinging to her upper lip. She closes her eyes for a fleeting moment, a small sigh of contentment escaping her. “This is heavenly,” she murmurs, her gaze drifting towards the snow-capped peaks visible in the distance. Margot nods in agreement, her expression serene. She stirs her drink thoughtfully, the spoon making soft, almost musical sounds against the ceramic. Katie, ever the fidget, is already swirling the marshmallows in her cup, creating a miniature vortex of sugary sweetness. You watch the swirling pattern, a sense of tranquility washing over you. You lift your own cup, the warmth seeping into your chilled fingers. The hot chocolate is indeed perfect – rich, creamy, and not too sweet. A wave of gratitude washes over you for this alternate timeline, for this moment of simple joy shared with people who, in another reality, were denied such pleasures. Anne clears her throat softly, breaking the comfortable silence. “So, Kevin,” she begins, her brown eyes sparkling with curiosity. “You mentioned finding something interesting at home? Something about time…?” Katie perks up, her marshmallow-stirring momentarily forgotten. "Ooh, it's just an unusual watch which turned out to be a time machine." Margot chuckles, gently teasing her sister. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Anne. Let Kevin explain.” You set down your cup, the clink of the china momentarily drawing everyone's attention. Reaching into your pocket, you feel the smooth, cool metal of the watch. The weight of it feels significant somehow, promising both excitement and uncertainty. Anne leans forward slightly, her gaze fixed on your hand, anticipation evident in her expression.

You hold up the watch, its intricate design glinting in the warm light. "Okay, so, this is going to sound crazy, but here it goes." You take a deep breath, steadying yourself. "I found this watch in our storage room. At first, I thought it was just an old, fancy watch. But after tinkering with it, I realized it's something... more." You ...
You hold up the watch, its intricate design glinting in the warm light. "Okay, so, this is going to sound crazy, but here it goes." You take a deep breath, steadying yourself. "I found this watch in our storage room. At first, I thought it was just an old, fancy watch. But after tinkering with it, I realized it's something... more." You pause, gauging their reactions. Anne's eyes are wide with anticipation, while Margot wears a polite, yet skeptical, smile. Katie, of course, is practically bouncing in her seat. "It's a time machine," you state simply, deciding that bluntness is the best approach. A beat of silence hangs in the air, broken only by the distant clatter of cups. Then, Anne bursts into laughter, a bright, melodious sound that fills the café. Margot's smile widens, though her eyes still hold a hint of disbelief. "Oh, Kevin, you're incorrigible!" Anne exclaims, wiping a tear from her eye. "A time machine, really?" "I'm serious!" you insist, a touch of defensiveness creeping into your voice. "I wouldn't joke about something like this." You proceed to explain how you accidentally activated the watch, the strange symbols that appeared on its face, and the disorienting sensation of temporal displacement. You describe the flashes of images, the snippets of conversations, the feeling of being pulled through time itself. As you recount your experience, Anne and Margot listen intently, their initial amusement slowly giving way to fascination. Even Katie seems captivated, her usual teasing replaced by genuine curiosity. You continue, detailing the other things you found in the storage room – the strange manuals filled with complex equations, the diagrams of futuristic technology, and the faint, lingering scent of ozone. "And the craziest part?" you add, leaning in conspiratorially. "I think I accidentally created clones of myself and Katie back home before we left. So Mom and Dad won't suspect anything.” Anne gasps softly, her eyes widening in disbelief. Margot’s eyebrows raise in surprise, clearly impressed by the implications. "That's... extraordinary, Kevin," Margot says slowly, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and trepidation. "It gets even weirder," you continue, fueled by their rapt attention. "Somehow, all the textbooks and information we've been taught at school, are all there in the watch. As a file. I don´t know how, but I saw it." You glance around the cafe, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. You’ve revealed a huge secret, and now it is up to them to process it all. The waitress, returning to clear your table, gives you an expectant look.

The waitress smiles politely as she gathers the empty hot chocolate cups, her movements practiced and efficient. "Anything else I can get you?" she asks, pausing briefly. You shake your head, thanking her as she moves on to another table. Turning back to Anne and Margot, you add, "But promise me you won't tell anyone about this, especial...
The waitress smiles politely as she gathers the empty hot chocolate cups, her movements practiced and efficient. "Anything else I can get you?" she asks, pausing briefly. You shake your head, thanking her as she moves on to another table. Turning back to Anne and Margot, you add, "But promise me you won't tell anyone about this, especially not our parents.” You lower your voice, emphasizing the need for secrecy. "I don't want to risk them taking the watch away or, worse, not believing me at all.” Anne nods solemnly, her initial amusement now completely gone. "Of course, Kevin," she says, her voice serious. "We understand. This is… a lot to take in." Margot echoes her sister's sentiment, assuring you that your secret is safe with them. "But what about your parents?" Margot asks. "Won't they notice you've been replaced by clones?" You shrug, trying to appear nonchalant. "I'm hoping they won't notice the difference, honestly. I mean, we're pretty good at acting like each other. And Katie's clone is even better at mimicking her, I think.” The mention of keeping secrets from close ones seems to spark a thought in Anne's mind. "Speaking of friends," she begins, a wistful tone entering her voice, "I miss Hanne and Sanne so much. I wonder what they are doing right now…" Margot smiles knowingly. "Oh, you and your friends," she teases gently. "Always gossiping and giggling." Anne playfully rolls her eyes. "Hey, what's wrong with having friends? Besides, they're the only ones who understand my… unique sense of humor." She pauses, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You know, like that time I wouldn't stop talking in Mr. Keesing's class…" Margot chuckles, shaking her head. "Oh, don't remind me! That poor man. You talked so much, he eventually assigned you extra homework – writing essays about why you talk so much." "Hey! Those essays were brilliant," Anne protests, feigning offense. "I even made him laugh in the end!" You listen to their banter, a smile tugging at your lips. It's nice to see them so relaxed and carefree, especially knowing what their lives could have been like. You glance at the strange watch on your wrist, its surface now dark and inactive. Anne turns to you, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, Kevin, what exactly does this watch do?" The hum of the cafe seems to fade slightly as she awaits your response.
