The zeppelin Star Wanderer hums beneath your feet as you lean against the railing, the wind whipping strands of your dark hair across your face. Below, the city of Zarthus sprawls in a chaotic beauty of copper spires and glowing neon signs, steam billowing from hidden vents in the gothic architecture. It's a place where magic whispers in the shadows and alien technology gleams in the smog-choked sky. You check your black Apple Watch; 11:47 PM. TOP is late. Again. You're supposed to meet him at the Crimson Dragon, a notorious gambling den and information hub in the underbelly of Zarthus. He promised he'd have intel on the recent surge of Xylar activity near the university. Your dad, Zed, always warned you about getting involved with TOP. "He's got a darkness in him, Tara," he'd said, his voice gruff with concern. "A darkness you don't understand." But you saw something else in TOP's eyes, a vulnerability hidden beneath the swagger and the gang affiliation. Besides, he makes your heart race like a hummingbird's wings, a sensation both thrilling and terrifying. The memory of your mother, Sara, flickers in your mind. Her gentle smile, the way her golden healing light always calmed you. She would have liked TOP, you think. She always saw the best in everyone. Losing her a year ago still feels like a raw wound. A glint of metal catches your eye. A figure detaches itself from the shadows near the docking platform. Too tall to be TOP. As he steps into the light, you recognize the stern, yet hopeful face of Kara Zor-El. Supergirl. What's she doing here? "Tara Holloway?" she asks, her voice carrying over the whine of the zeppelin's engines. "I need your help. Luna Lovegood has gone missing. I believe it's connected to the same energy surges we've been tracking." The mention of Luna sends a chill down your spine. You met the quirky Ravenclaw witch during one of Barry Allen's dimension-hopping escapades. She's an oddball, sure, but harmless. "What kind of energy surges?" you ask, your hand instinctively moving towards the pulse rifle strapped to your thigh. "Unstable. Chaotic. Like something's tearing holes in the fabric of reality." Kara's blue eyes search yours, urgent and imploring. "I've tracked the source to the old clock tower in the Forgotten Quarter. Will you come with me?" The Forgotten Quarter. Even TOP avoids that place. But Luna… and the thought of tears in reality… Your gut twists. TOP is late. Again. And something tells you this is bigger than just a missing person. Your destiny is calling. Will you answer?

Kara's expression softens, the weight of her concern momentarily lifting as you agree to help. Her shoulders visibly relax. "Thank you, Tara. I know this is a lot to ask, especially given… everything." You raise an eyebrow, curious about what she means, but she presses on. "The energy surges are getting worse. We need to find Luna, and fast." The Forgotten Quarter. Even the name tastes like ash in your mouth. It's a labyrinth of twisted alleyways and forgotten dreams, where the city's unwanted secrets fester. The old clock tower, a relic of a bygone era, looms at its heart, its gears long since rusted, its hands frozen in a perpetual state of twilight. "What exactly are we walking into?" you ask, your voice betraying a sliver of apprehension. Kara's gaze hardens. "We don't know for sure. But the energy readings are off the charts. There could be temporal distortions, spatial anomalies… anything's possible." She pauses, a flicker of worry in her eyes. "And if Luna's involved, there's no telling what kind of magic might be at play." Your hand instinctively tightens around the grip of your pulse rifle. This is exactly the kind of exhilarating terror you crave, the edge that makes you feel truly alive. A dangerous cocktail of dread and excitement courses through you. This is more than just helping a friend; it's diving headfirst into the unknown, into the heart of the storm. But you can't shake the feeling of Top. "I'm with you," you say, your voice firm. "I will follow you where ever if that means you can help me," you add, looking at Kara sweetly. Her relief is palpable as she turns and heads towards the edge of the zeppelin. The adventure begins in the Forgotten Quarter.

Kara pauses, considering your question. Her brow furrows slightly, and she glances around the zeppelin deck, as if searching for something she can no longer see. Kara pauses, considering your question. Her brow furrows slightly, and she glances around the zeppelin deck, as if searching for something she can no longer see. "I don't have any specific protection spells memorized, not in the traditional sense," she admits, a touch of regret in her voice. "Kryptonian abilities are more… direct. Heat vision, super strength, flight… We rely on overwhelming force, not subtle enchantments." She then muses, "Though my mother used to weave protective glyphs into our clothing on Krypton. I never learned the specifics." You nod, mulling over her words. The Forgotten Quarter feels like a place where brute strength might not be enough. "What about you, Tara? Any tricks up your sleeve? I've heard whispers of your Fey heritage; do you have any spells?" You look at her and then smirk a little bit, it is your turn to shine and show her a thing or two. "Why, yes, of course!" you say, reaching into your bag. "I have a few Chinese talismans. I always have a few tucked away in here, just in case. They've gotten me out of a bind more than once." You pull out a small, rectangular piece of yellow paper covered in intricate red symbols. "This one is for protection against evil spirits. It's supposed to ward off negative energy and bad luck." Kara's eyes widen in amazement. "I've never seen anything like it. Can you teach me how to use them?" You chuckle. "It's not something you can just learn overnight, Kara. But I can show you the basics. The most important thing is to believe in its power." You pause and then smile, "But you being Supergirl and all, you have your own kind of magic!"
