The salty air whips through your hair as you stand on the deck of the Disney cruise ship, the vast expanse of the Atlantic stretching before you. You, Rose, adjust the purple t-shirt that reads "Staff Dyspraxia Support" across the back, a nervous flutter in your stomach. You can’t believe you landed this job. A wave of gratitude washes over you, quickly followed by a surge of self-doubt. Your own dyspraxia makes even simple tasks a challenge sometimes. The ship hums with the energy of vacationers, a kaleidoscope of laughter and excited chatter swirling around you. You spot Mary-Lou, her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail, near the railing, already deep in conversation with a young girl. Mary-Lou, your fellow holiday rep, radiates an easy confidence you envy. She catches your eye and waves, her smile warm and genuine. As you approach, you notice the girl Mary-Lou is talking to wears a purple dress and a cat-ear hairband. There’s an air of quiet dignity about her that’s hard to place, despite her whimsical attire. “Rose, this is Molly,” Mary-Lou says, her voice bright. “Molly, this is Rose, who’ll be helping us out this week.” Molly offers a shy smile. "It's very nice to meet you, Rose." You return the smile, trying to project an air of calm competence. "It's great to meet you too, Molly. Are you excited for the cruise?" Molly nods enthusiastically, then hesitates. "I am, but… sometimes I get a little overwhelmed." Her gaze drifts towards the bustling crowds. "It's hard to… to keep up." Your heart goes out to her. You know that feeling all too well. This is exactly why you’re here. "We understand, Molly," you say gently. "That's what we're here for. We're here to help you have a fantastic time, and to make sure you feel supported." Mary-Lou chimes in, "We have lots of fun activities planned, and we'll be there every step of the way." Suddenly, a frantic voice cuts through the cheerful atmosphere. A woman, her face etched with panic, rushes towards you. "Have you seen my daughter? She has dyspraxia and she’s run off! I only turned my back for a second…" Your breath catches in your throat. This is it. This is your chance to put your anxieties aside and do what you came here to do. But where do you even begin to look?

The woman’s panic is contagious, a wave of anxiety threatening to engulf you. You focus on your breathing, reminding yourself that you can handle this. You fix your eyes on the frantic mother and try to speak in a calming tone. “What’s your daughter’s name, please? What does your daughter like to do?” The woman gasps, relief flooding her features that someone is finally helping. “Her name is Lily. She… she loves the ocean. And drawing. She always carries a sketchbook with her.” She wracks her brain, her eyes darting around, looking for any sign of her daughter. “She’s wearing a bright yellow sundress, and… and she has a little seashell necklace.” Mary-Lou gently takes the woman’s arm. “Okay, let’s think. When did you last see her?” “Just five minutes ago, near the ice cream stand. I turned around to pay, and when I looked back, she was gone.” The woman’s voice cracks, tears welling in her eyes. Molly, who had been quietly observing, speaks up, her voice surprisingly firm. “Maybe she went to the art room? I saw a sign for a drawing class this afternoon.” That’s a good lead. Lily’s love for drawing could definitely mean she’s headed towards the art room. You turn to Mary-Lou. “I think we should split up. Mary-Lou, can you stay with Lily’s mom and check near the ice cream stand and the shops? Molly and I will head to the art room and then check the upper deck, near the ocean view.” Mary-Lou nods in agreement, squeezing the mother’s arm reassuringly. “We’ll find her. Don’t worry.” You take a deep breath and turn to Molly. “Ready to go?” Molly nods, her cat-ear headband bobbing slightly. As you start to walk away, the frantic mother calls out, “Thank you! Thank you so much!” You give her a reassuring smile, then turn and pick up the pace, Molly hurrying to keep up. The ship’s corridors are a maze of activity, families heading to various attractions, crew members rushing about their duties. The art room is located on Deck 5, near the children’s club. You weave through the crowd, your mind racing with possible scenarios. What if Lily isn’t in the art room? What if she’s wandered off somewhere more dangerous? The possibilities are endless, and the weight of responsibility presses down on you. Finally, you reach the art room. You can hear the faint sound of children’s voices inside, the gentle hum of creativity. As you reach for the door handle, a wave of doubt washes over you.

You pause, turning to Molly. "Molly, what do you like about Disney?" Molly's eyes light up, a genuine smile spreading across her face. "Oh, everything!" she exclaims, her voice filled with childlike wonder. "I love the stories, the characters, the music… it’s all so magical. It makes me feel like anything is possible." Her enthusiasm is infectious, momentarily lifting the weight of the situation. "I especially love the princesses," she continues, "because they show that even in the face of adversity, you can still be kind and strong." You nod, appreciating her perspective. It’s a welcome reminder of the positive impact Disney can have, especially for someone like Lily, who might need that extra dose of hope and inspiration. Taking a deep breath, you place your hand on the door handle and push it open. The art room is a vibrant explosion of color, filled with easels, paints, and the excited chatter of young artists. A group of children are gathered around a table, their faces focused on their artwork. An instructor, a young man with a friendly smile, is helping one of the children with their painting. You scan the room, your eyes searching for a glimpse of a bright yellow sundress. You don’t see Lily. Disappointment washes over you, but you refuse to give up. She could be hiding, or simply not in the mood for art right now. You approach the instructor, trying to keep your voice calm and reassuring. "Excuse me," you say, "have you seen a little girl in a yellow sundress with a seashell necklace? Her name is Lily, and she might be a little lost." The instructor frowns, his eyes scanning the room as well. "I haven't seen anyone like that, but I’ll keep an eye out. Is she enrolled in the class?" "No, I don’t think so. Her mother lost her a few minutes ago." The instructor nods sympathetically. "I hope you find her soon." You thank him and step back, feeling a growing sense of unease. If she’s not in the art room, where could she be? You look at Molly, a silent question passing between you. She seems to sense your anxiety. "Maybe she went to the deck," Molly suggests, her voice soft. "She said she loves the ocean." That's as good a lead as any. You nod, and with a shared glance, you and Molly leave the art room and head back into the bustling corridor. The upper deck is crowded with people enjoying the ocean view, the salty breeze carrying the sound of seagulls and distant music. The vastness of the ocean is both beautiful and intimidating. The realization hits you like a wave: Lily could be anywhere. The ship is enormous, a floating city of possibilities, and dangers.
