Story context

World description

I want to mix a lot of worlds together in a fanfiction Mashup where I get to interact with some of my favorite characters.

Initial situation

We open in the dungeon lab with Dr. Geers sitting in his chair, reading his mail. A letter from his attorney regarding the cease & desist order to NASA and an invite to a Gala held by David Xanotos. A *plop* rouses Dr. X as a squirrel has fallen into the sacrificial pool; Glee has left the mechanical doors above the missle silo open again.

Objective

Currently the plot is the Gala, an event held in my honor, where Xanotos and I will discuss a partnership. He extends an offer for security and containment of my latest aquisition...the head of Megatron, raised from the Mariana trench. Dethklok will perform a set as the evenings entertainment. (Unknown to myself, other guests will include a representative of The Guild of Calamitous Intent scouting for recruitment, and Jerrica...

The gargoyles snicker, a low rumble in the cavernous lab, as you, Dr. Harold Xavior Geers, settle deeper into your worn leather chair, it's brass pinned, velvet cushions providing little comfort. The plop pulls you from the return letter, sent by your attorney, regarding the cease and desist order to NASA and the embossed invitation to David Xanatos's gala. Glee has left the blast doors open again. You’d think after all these years she’d remember the local fauna has a penchant for your… unique water feature. "Glee!" you boom, the voice modulator distorting your tone into a metallic growl. "Blast doors, if you please. We don't want a repeat of the Incident with the wind blown trampoline." A giggle echoes from the depths of the lab, followed by the whoosh of air as the mechanical doors grind shut. You turn your attention back to the unfortunate squirrel now paddling frantically in the sacrificial pool, its tiny eyes wide with terror. Soon the walls will bleed, upward this time. "XD," you say, addressing the orb pulsating gently in its dish. "Engage the squirrel retrieval system, if you would." "Affirmative, Doctor," XD chirps, its synthesized voice a stark contrast to the guttural pronouncements of the gargoyles. A robotic arm, surprisingly delicate, extends from the computer console, scoops up the shivering creature, and deposits it gently outside the silo doors. You turn your attention back to the correspondence on your desk. Xanatos's invitation is particularly intriguing. A gala, held in your honor? And a proposed "partnership" concerning the… Megatron acquisition. The thought of the Transformers leader's head, recovered from the crushing depths of the Mariana Trench, sends a jolt through your robotic arm. The spiderbots beneath the black glove twitch in anticipation. The Guild? Jem? You almost forgot about that too, however the real question is can you really trust Xanatos? The gargoyles seem to laugh even harder, as if in answer to your concerns. You lean back, the cape swirling around you, pondering. The gala could be an opportunity. An opportunity to showcase your genius, to secure funding, perhaps even to find… kindred spirits. Or it could be a trap. Xanatos is a shrewd man, and his motives are rarely transparent. The invitation sits heavy in your gloved hand. Do you accept Xanatos's offer, risking exposure and potential betrayal, or do you decline, isolating yourself further but maintaining control of your… projects?

The decision hangs heavy in the air, but you shove it aside for the moment. It is time to seek out Glee, who is no doubt enjoying herself in the wind tunnel. You rise from your chair, the worn leather creaking in protest, and adjust your reflective helmet mask. The purple cape billows behind you as you make your way through the labyrinthine corridors of your underground lair. The air hums with the low thrum of machinery and the faint scent of ozone. Cables snake across the floor, and half-finished projects litter every surface. Test tubes bubble with strange concoctions, and the walls are lined with shelves overflowing with arcane artifacts and scientific instruments. The whole place is a collage, where one half of the collection could be sold to a museum, the other half to a flea market. "Glee!" you call out again, your voice echoing through the corridors. "To me, if you please. Gala at the Eyrie building." As you round a corner, the wind tunnel comes into view. A large, cylindrical chamber, it roars with the force of a hurricane, and within its transparent walls, Glee is suspended in mid-air, her harlequin costume flapping wildly in the gale. She whoops with delight, twirling and diving like a seasoned acrobat. You approach the control panel and reduce the wind speed to a manageable level. The whirling vortex subsides, and Glee gently floats to the ground, landing gracefully on her feet. Her face is flushed with excitement, and her eyes sparkle with mischief. "Doctor!" she exclaims, her voice breathless. "Did you see me? I almost did a triple somersault!" "Indeed," you reply drily. "However, your aerial acrobatics will have to wait. We have been invited to a gala." Glee's eyes widen in surprise. "A gala? Really? Where?" "At the Eyrie building," you say, handing her the invitation. "Hosted by one David Xanatos." She takes the invitation, her gloved fingers tracing the embossed lettering. "Xanatos… that name sounds familiar. Is he the one who owns that big robotics company?" "Among other things," you reply, a hint of caution in your voice. "He's also interested in… acquisitions of a more unusual nature." Glee's eyes narrow, her expression becoming uncharacteristically serious. "The Megatron project?" You nod. "It seems he wants to discuss a partnership. Security, containment, things of that nature." "And Dethklok is playing?" Glee reads the invitation once more. "We have to go. This is a must." "There are other attendees as well," you explain, "including a representative of The Guild of Calamitous Intent and one Jerrica Benton." "The Guild?" Glee looks intrigued. "That could be interesting." You raise an eyebrow. "Interesting, perhaps. But also potentially dangerous. Xanatos is not a man to be trifled with. And the Guild… well, they have their own agenda." You consider for a moment. "I want you to do some research on Xanatos. Find out everything you can about his operations, his associates, his… predilections." "Consider it done, Doctor," Glee says with a mischievous grin. "I do love a good mystery."

You return to your worn leather chair, the invitation still clutched in your gloved hand. "XD," you command, "lower the Brainwave Scanner Hell-Met." With a whirring of gears and a hiss of pneumatics, the device descends from the ceiling, its tangle of wires and electrodes resembling a metallic Medusa. The helmet settles gently onto your head, the cold metal sending a shiver down your spine. "Activating dream beam," XD announces, its synthesized voice echoing through the lab. "Target destination?" "The Eyrie building," you reply, adjusting the helmet to a comfortable position. "I want to get a feel for the place, see if Xanatos has any… magical wards in place." A low hum fills the air as the machine whirs to life, bathing the room in an eerie blue light. You close your eyes, focusing your thoughts on the imposing structure perched atop its Manhattan skyscraper. The dream beam activates, and your consciousness begins to drift, carried on a stream of psychic energy towards your destination. At first, you are met with static, a chaotic jumble of images and sensations. But as your mind locks onto the Eyrie building, the chaos begins to coalesce, resolving into a coherent picture. You find yourself floating above the gala, an invisible observer drifting through the throng of elegantly dressed guests. The music is loud, the air thick with the scent of expensive perfume and the murmur of polite conversation. You see Xanatos holding court near a towering ice sculpture, his sharp eyes scanning the crowd. Concentrating, you attempt to penetrate his thoughts, to glean some insight into his motives. But it is like trying to grasp smoke. His mind is a fortress, impenetrable and guarded. You sense a formidable intellect at work, calculating, strategizing, always several steps ahead. As you probe deeper, you detect faint traces of something else, something… arcane. It is subtle, almost imperceptible, but it is definitely there. Magical wards, just as you suspected. They are not particularly strong, but they are cleverly placed, designed to deflect casual probes and mask Xanatos's true intentions. You see arcane symbols carved into the stonework, barely visible to the naked eye, pulsing with a faint, otherworldly energy. They are subtle and woven into the very architecture of the building. Suddenly, a jolt of energy surges through your mind, snapping you back to reality. The dream beam sputters and dies, the blue light fading away. "Warning," XD announces, "psychic interference detected. Connection severed." You remove the helmet, your head swimming. "What was that?" you ask, rubbing your temples. "Unknown energy signature," XD replies. "Potentially hostile. I recommend caution."
