The sun bleeds crimson onto the ramshackle roofs of Stella's slums as Adonis rises. He is thirteen today, the day that will decide his fate. The chill of the morning seeps through the gaps in his makeshift walls, a constant reminder of his precarious existence. He pulls on his worn tunic, the fabric thin and patched, a testament to two years of relentless struggle. His reflection in a cracked piece of glass reveals a skinny boy with haunted eyes—one black, one green—eyes that have seen too much for such a young age. Today is the day he gets tested for his beast taming talent. The thought sends a jolt of nervous energy through him. He dreams of contracting a powerful beast, a creature that can carry him away from this life of scavenging and desperation. He dreams of seeing Otis, all of it, not just the grimy alleys and overflowing refuse heaps of Stella's underbelly. He slips out of his shack, the stench of the slums clinging to him like a second skin. The streets are already teeming with life: haggard mothers bartering for scraps, wiry children chasing stray mutated rats, and grizzled men nursing cheap liquor in the shadows. He navigates the labyrinthine alleys, his bare feet hardened by years of treading on unforgiving ground. As he nears the testing center, located ironically in the heart of the only clean area of the slums, a knot forms in his stomach. He sees other children, their faces a mixture of hope and fear. Some are orphans like him, others have families who clutch their hands, whispering words of encouragement. He clenches his fists, pushing down the wave of envy that threatens to engulf him. He has no one but himself. He shoves his way through the crowd, ignoring the jeers and shoves, until he reaches the entrance. A hulking guard with a mechanical arm eyes him with disdain. "Name?" he grunts. "Adonis," he replies, his voice barely a whisper. "Get inside, you're late," the guard barks, shoving him forward. Inside, the air is thick with anticipation. Rows of children sit on wooden benches, their eyes fixed on the stage where the testers are preparing the equipment. An old man with a long white beard steps forward. "Welcome, children," he says, his voice booming through the room. "Today, you will discover your potential. Today, you will take the first step towards becoming protectors of the United Federation." Adonis swallows hard, his heart pounding in his chest. This is it. His chance. He focuses on his dream, the image of a world beyond the slums, a world waiting to be explored. He can almost taste the freedom, the adventure, the power. But what if he fails? What if he has no talent? What if he is destined to rot in this squalor forever? The old man begins calling names, one by one, each child stepping forward to face their destiny. The tension in the room is palpable. Adonis grips the edge of the bench, his knuckles white. "Adonis!" the old man calls. All eyes turn to him. He hesitates for a moment, then rises to his feet and walks towards the stage. He can feel the weight of their gazes, the hopes and fears of a thousand forgotten souls. As he steps onto the stage, the old man smiles kindly. "Ready, young man?" He nods, his voice still caught in his throat. The old man places a strange device on the table. It pulses with a faint blue light. "Place your hand on the device," he instructs. "And let us see what beast awaits you." Adonis takes a deep breath and places his hand on the device. A surge of energy flows through him, and suddenly he sees a vision: a flash of emerald scales, a roar that shakes the earth, and a pair of burning green eyes staring back at him. But before he can make sense of it, a guttural scream echoes through the testing hall, and the mechanical arm of the guard from outside slams through the wall, followed by a wave of raiders bursting into the room, their eyes gleaming with malice. "Everyone down! We're here for the contracts!" Do you dive for cover or attempt to harness the beast energy surging within you?

Chaos erupts. Children scream, scattering like startled rats. The old man's eyes flash with a sudden, terrifying power. Before Adonis can decide, the old man raises his hands, his voice booming above the din, "Silence!" The raiders, a motley crew of scavengers and thugs, hesitate, momentarily stunned by the display of authority. "You think you can stop us, old man?" sneers their leader, a scarred brute wielding a rusty chainaxe. "We've dealt with your kind before." As if in response, the old man with the beard summons a large cobra about 10 Meters long. The cobra easily takes care of the intruders swallowing them on the spot. Adonis stares in disbelief, his mind reeling from the sudden turn of events. The emerald scales, the earth-shaking roar, the burning green eyes - the vision returns, stronger now, overwhelming his senses. He feels a connection to the beast, a primal urge to unleash the power that lies dormant within him. The old man turns to Adonis, his eyes filled with an unreadable expression. "It seems destiny has chosen you, boy," he says, his voice surprisingly gentle. "But the path ahead will not be easy." Before Adonis can respond, the ground begins to tremble. A section of the wall collapses, revealing a hulking figure silhouetted against the blood-red sky. It is a massive, mutated bear, its fur matted with grime and blood, its eyes burning with a feral hunger. "They brought a damned Tecton Bear!" someone screams. The raiders who are not yet consumed by the cobra now cower in fear, their bravado vanished. The Tecton Bear is a creature of nightmare, a relic of a forgotten age, and a scourge to the Vurutis Empire. The old man steps forward, his hands glowing with arcane energy. "Protect the children!" he commands, his voice ringing with authority. "I will hold it back as long as I can." With a roar, the Tecton Bear charges, its massive claws tearing through the air. The old man unleashes a torrent of energy, creating a shimmering barrier that momentarily halts the beast's advance. Adonis sees his chance. The Tecton Bear is a distraction, a threat to everyone in the testing hall. But it is also an opportunity. He focuses his mind, channeling the energy that still surges through his veins. He imagines the emerald scales, the earth-shaking roar, the burning green eyes. He wills the beast within him to awaken. He extends his hand towards the Tecton Bear, feeling a strange mix of fear and exhilaration. He whispers a word, a word he doesn't understand but knows instinctively. A word of power, a word of command.

Adonis clenches his fist and cries out, "Arise!" The sound tears through the air, a raw, guttural utterance that seems to vibrate in his very bones. Adonis clenches his fist and cries out, "Arise!" The sound tears through the air, a raw, guttural utterance that seems to vibrate in his very bones. It is not just a word; it is a command, a plea, a desperate attempt to seize control of the chaos that engulfs him. The Tecton Bear pauses, its head cocked to one side, as if it has heard something it cannot quite comprehend. Its bloodshot eyes narrow, focusing on Adonis with an intensity that makes his heart pound in his chest. The old man's barrier shimmers and wavers, strained by the bear's immense power. He glances at Adonis, his expression a mixture of concern and curiosity. The air crackles with energy. Adonis feels a surge of power coursing through his veins, a primal force that threatens to overwhelm him. He fights to maintain control, focusing on the image of the beast within him. He sees the emerald scales, the burning green eyes, the raw, untamed power. He reaches out with his mind, trying to establish a connection with the Tecton Bear. It is a risky gambit, a dangerous dance on the edge of oblivion. But he knows, with a certainty that defies logic, that he must try. He has to bring the beast under his command. The bear roars, shaking the very foundations of the testing hall. The sound is deafening, threatening to shatter his eardrums. But Adonis does not flinch. He stands his ground, his eyes locked on the creature's, his will unyielding. The Tecton Bear takes a step forward, then another. The old man's barrier strains to its breaking point. Adonis can feel the heat radiating from the beast, the stench of its fetid breath. The faces of the other children are pale, their eyes wide with terror. But Adonis cannot afford to falter. He must succeed. He repeats the word in his mind, imbuing it with all his will, all his desire, all his desperate hope. He tries to dominate the Tecton Bear.
