Gio's eyes snap open. His head throbs, a dull, persistent ache that resonates with the dust motes dancing in the single ray of sunlight slicing through the thatch roof of his hut. He is lying on the hard-packed earth floor, a thin woven mat the only concession to comfort. The air smells of woodsmoke and the faint sweetness of ripening mangoes from the nearby trees. He sits up, the movement sending a jolt of unexpected power through his limbs. It is… different. His senses are heightened. The distant bleating of a goat, the rustle of leaves in the wind, the minute vibrations of insects crawling on the bark of a tree – all are amplified, clear as if they were happening inside his own head. He remembers Kal, the dying alien, the diamond, the promise of power. It wasn't a dream. Gio rises to his feet, a strange lightness in his step. He glances at his reflection in a cracked, tarnished piece of metal hanging on the wall. His blue eyes seem to glow with an inner luminescence, brighter than he remembers. He flexes a hand, and a tremor runs through the mud walls of the hut. It is a terrifying and exhilarating sensation. He has the power to change everything, just as Kal foretold. Outside, the village is stirring. Women are already tending cooking fires, their voices rising in gentle melodies as they prepare the morning meal. Children chase chickens through the dusty paths, their laughter echoing in the still air. It's a scene of simple, fragile beauty, a beauty Gio knows is threatened. He thinks of the stories whispered by the elders: tales of the Iron Cities, gleaming metropolises built on the backs of exploited lands and people. He thinks of the endless convoys of trucks that rumble through the countryside, carrying away the earth's riches, leaving behind poisoned rivers and barren fields. He sees the fear etched on the faces of his people, the constant threat of raids, of land grabs, of forced labor. Gio clenches his fists. Kal’s words echo in his mind: “You must rid your world of corruption, oppression, wars and evil because that is what empowers the Dark Side.” The diamond has given him the power, but the path is his to choose. He can remain here, safe within the spiritual shield that has protected his village for so long, or he can venture out into the world, a one-man army against the forces of oppression. A piercing scream shatters the morning calm. It is followed by the unmistakable sound of gunfire, close, far too close. Smoke begins to rise in the distance, acrid and black against the pale morning sky. The raiders have come. Does Gio stay and defend his village, revealing his powers to protect those he loves, or does he fly towards the source of the attack, risking everything to confront the immediate threat head-on?

The earth trembles as Gio’s feet lift off the ground. He hangs suspended for a heartbeat, the wind whipping at his clothes, his dreadlocked hair swirling around his face. He feels a surge of pure exhilaration, the raw power thrumming in his veins. Teo, his younger brother, stares up at him, mouth agape, his eyes wide with disbelief and wonder. Gio grins, a flash of white teeth against his dark skin, and shoots off like a bolt of lightning. He feels the air screaming past him, the ground a blur beneath. He revels in the newfound speed, the effortless grace, the sheer, unadulterated power. But the screams and gunfire are a harsh reminder of the task at hand. With a focused intensity, he puts the new found abilities to good use. He returns to his village in a flash, the image of a fortress forming in his mind. His hands become instruments of creation, tearing into the earth, lifting massive stones, shaping the landscape with superhuman speed. A wall rises around the village, a formidable barrier of earth and rock, a testament to his newfound strength. Villagers emerge from their huts, their faces etched with confusion and awe as they witness the impossible. They watch, transfixed, as Gio races around the perimeter, a whirlwind of motion, solidifying the defenses, creating a sanctuary. Then, without pause, he is gone again, a streak of blue in the sky, hurtling towards the neighboring village. The scene that greets him is one of brutal chaos. Armed men, clad in black uniforms emblazoned with a serpent logo, are systematically looting and burning homes. Villagers lie dead in the streets, their bodies contorted in unnatural angles. The air is thick with smoke and the stench of burning flesh. Rage, cold and pure, ignites within Gio. He lands in the center of the village square, the force of his arrival sending shockwaves through the ground, scattering the attackers like bowling pins. They turn, their faces contorted with surprise and fear, their weapons raised. But they are too slow. Gio moves with blinding speed, disarming them, disabling them, his every strike precise and efficient. He doesn’t kill, but he leaves them groaning on the ground, their weapons twisted into useless scraps of metal. The remaining attackers, seeing the devastation he is causing, begin to flee. Gio could easily pursue them, wipe them out completely, but he resists the urge. He remembers Kal’s warning, the need to fight not just with power, but with compassion, with justice. He turns his attention to the villagers, the survivors huddled in fear, their eyes filled with disbelief and a flicker of hope. A young woman approaches him, her face streaked with tears, her voice trembling. "Who… who are you?" she asks.

Gio speaks, his voice calm but resonant, carrying a weight of authority that belies his youth. "My name is Gio." He offers her a reassuring nod, then turns his attention to the fleeing bandits. With a burst of speed, he ascends into the sky, leaving the devastated village behind. He scans the landscape, his enhanced vision piercing through the smoke and dust. He spots the retreating figures, a straggling line of black uniforms disappearing into the distance. Zeroing in on one of them, he descends like a hawk, snatching the man from the ground with effortless ease. The bandit screams, kicking and flailing, his eyes wide with terror as he dangles helplessly in the air. Gio’s grip is unyielding. "Tell me who is in charge," Gio demands, his voice a low growl. The bandit, realizing the futility of resistance, quickly spills everything. He directs Gio towards a concentration camp, a place of unimaginable horrors where his people are being held captive. The words hang in the air, painting a grim picture of suffering and despair. Rape, murder, slavery – the casual brutality of the oppressors ignites a firestorm of rage within Gio. He clenches his fist, his knuckles turning white. The bandit cowers, sensing the shift in Gio's demeanor. "Show me your leader," Gio commands, his voice laced with barely suppressed fury. The bandit, desperate to save his own skin, readily complies, pointing towards a fortified compound nestled amidst the desolate landscape. Gio, his eyes burning with righteous anger, tightens his grip on the bandit and rockets towards the concentration camp. The journey is swift, the landscape a blur beneath them. As they approach the camp, the sounds of human misery become palpable – the cries of the imprisoned, the crack of whips, the barking of dogs. The air is thick with the stench of sweat, blood, and despair. Gio's heart aches with the weight of their suffering. He lands just outside the compound walls, the impact sending tremors through the ground. He drops the bandit unceremoniously at his feet. “Lead the way,” he says, his voice devoid of emotion. The bandit stumbles to his feet, his legs shaking, and scurries towards the entrance, knowing that his life hangs in the balance.
