The wind whispers secrets through the desolate plains as Balruss finds himself face-to-face with an ambush. Two figures emerge from the shadows, their intentions as dark as the approaching night. One of the figures steps forward, his long, silver hair flowing in the wind, his red eyes gleaming with sadistic intent. This is Verrückt, a name whispered in fear among those who know of the Black Fang. His creepy armor peeks from under his cloak, a grotesque symbol of his allegiance to Bhaal, the god of murder. A twisted, purple horn juts from his forehead, completing the unsettling picture. "Well, well," Verrückt sneers, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Look what we have here. A little lunar sorcerer, lost and alone." He cracks his knuckles, a disturbing grin spreading across his face. "I haven't had this much fun since I flayed a paladin alive. Are you familiar with pain, little sorcerer?" Balruss, despite his usual Casanova confidence, feels a knot of apprehension tighten in his stomach. He is a lunar sorcerer from Selune village, his spells blessed and amplified by the power of the moon. But even with the moon's might coursing through his veins, he knows he's outnumbered. He notes the other figure, Zänker, a hulking brute with a cruel glint in his eyes. "I'm not lost," Balruss retorts, trying to project an air of confidence he doesn't quite feel. "Just taking a scenic route. And I'm not interested in playing your twisted games." Verrückt laughs, a harsh, grating sound that echoes across the plains. "Oh, but you are playing now, little sorcerer. You wandered into our little trap. And now, you're going to learn the price of trespassing on Black Fang territory." He gestures towards Balruss with a flourish. "Zänker, break his legs. I want him to scream. Then we'll see how much he likes the 'scenic route'." Zänker lumbers forward, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground. Balruss knows he has to act fast. He channels the power of the moon, feeling its cool energy flow through his fingertips. He can cast a defensive spell, create a barrier to buy himself some time, or he can unleash a more offensive burst of lunar energy, hoping to incapacitate one of his attackers. But which one? And can he act fast enough to avoid Zänker´s blow?

Verrückt, still grinning, swings his halberd, the weapon a blur of steel in the fading light. "Is this the guy? Difficult to track down, eh? I'll finish it in one go, don't interfere, Zänker," he says, his voice a low growl. He approaches Balruss slowly, toying with the halberd, spinning it effortlessly with one hand. "He's going to be a sacrifice for Lord Bhaal." Balruss's wariness intensifies at those words, and his grip on his staff tightens. With a sudden leap, Verrückt swings the halberd, the attack catching Balruss by surprise. It nearly hits him, but he manages to deploy his magic shield just in time. The force of the blow shatters the shield, the magical energy dissipating into the air. Luckily, Balruss's magic armor withstands the remaining impact, preventing serious injury. Reacting swiftly, Balruss retaliates, casting a blinding spell. A wave of shimmering light erupts from his staff, engulfing Verrückt in an intense, disorienting glare. Balruss uses the opportunity to create some distance between himself and the relentless cleric. Verrückt stops momentarily, the sudden darkness taking him by surprise. But the sadistic grin remains plastered on his face. He laughs, a deep, booming sound that seems to vibrate through the very air around him. "Is that all you've got, little sorcerer?" he bellows, his voice laced with amusement. "Blindness won't stop me. Bhaal guides my hand, even in the dark." He takes a step forward, his halberd cutting through the air, guided by some unseen force. Balruss can hear the weapon whistling towards him, even though he can't see his opponent. He knows he needs to move, and fast. He can try to teleport away, using his lunar magic to shift his location, but that would leave him vulnerable for a moment. Or he can risk another spell, attempting to disrupt Verrückt's attack and create an opening. But is it possible to do that before the halberd finds its mark?

Verrückt throws his head back and laughs, the sound echoing through the desolate landscape. ´Hahaha, nice try, little sorcerer, but that won´t work.´ He touches his eyes, muttering an incantation, and casts a restoration spell, his red eyes regaining their sharp focus. ´Futile resistance,´ he sneers. Balruss, momentarily surprised by Verrückt's swift recovery, quickly regains his composure and casts a sacred flame spell. The spell is known for its unblockable nature, a searing blast of holy fire aimed directly at Verrückt. But Verrückt, with surprising agility for a heavily armored cleric, manages to dodge the attack, the flames narrowly missing him as he continues his relentless advance towards Balruss. He closes the distance quickly, swinging his halberd with brutal force. The blow connects with a shimmering barrier – Balruss has managed to erect another magic shield just in time. Verrückt presses his attack, pushing closer and closer. Suddenly, a spiritual spear manifests beside Balruss, piercing towards him but still couldn't penetrate Balruss magical shield. But the relentless force and speed can´t be stopped. Balruss finds himself struggling to move under the relentless pressure of Verrückt's assault. Desperate for space, he casts a mirror image spell. In an instant, multiple illusory copies of Balruss appear, confusing Verrückt and obscuring the real sorcerer. Using the distraction, Balruss seizes the opportunity to create some distance between himself and his attacker. Verrückt pauses, momentarily disoriented by the sudden multiplication of Balruss. He snarls in frustration, swinging his halberd and destroying one of the illusory images. ´Annoying,´ he mutters, his red eyes scanning the remaining copies, trying to discern the real Balruss from the phantoms. He plants his feet, his stance solid and menacing, and begins to chant, preparing to unleash another spell, a dark energy crackling around him like a malevolent storm, ready to unleash a power beyond Balruss´s comprehension.
