The Miami sun kisses your face as the taxi pulls up to the sleek, glass condominium. This is it: your new life. A life of luxury, a stark contrast to your humble upbringing. You take a deep breath, the salty air filling your lungs, a mix of anticipation and trepidation swirling within you. The doorman, a man built like a brick house, greets you with a polite nod. “Welcome to the Azure, Mr…” He pauses, waiting for your name. “[Create your character]” you reply, the sound of your name feeling foreign in this opulent setting. He checks his list, a small smile gracing his lips. “Of course, Mr. [Character name]. Mr. Harold and Ms. Karoline are expecting you. Penthouse suite, top floor.” The elevator glides upwards, the city sprawling beneath you as you ascend. The doors open directly into a lavish living room, all gleaming marble and panoramic windows. Harold, your father, stands awkwardly near a wet bar, a half-empty glass of amber liquid in his hand. He’s older than you remember, his hair more silver than gray, but the resemblance is undeniable. “Son,” he says, his voice thick with emotion. He sets down the glass and extends his hand, a nervous smile on his face. “Welcome home.” Before you can respond, a vision in a white sundress floats into the room. Karoline, your stepmother. Her blonde hair is perfectly coiffed, her green eyes sparkling with an almost predatory glint. She moves with a feline grace, her smile radiant as she approaches you. “You must be [Character name]!” she exclaims, her voice a silken whisper. She steps forward and embraces you, her body pressing against yours in a way that feels… unexpected. “We’re so thrilled to have you here.” Harold clears his throat, a flicker of unease in his eyes. “Karoline has been instrumental in getting everything ready for you, son. She insisted on picking out all the furniture herself.” Karoline winks at you, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “I wanted you to feel comfortable, darling. After all, this is your home now.” She glances around the room, then back at you. “Are you hungry? Thirsty? Maybe you want to freshen up after your long journey? I can show you to your room, darling, I hope you like what I chose for you.” Her eyes linger on you just a moment longer, making you feel uneasy. What do you say or do?

Take a shower and dress in some nice looking clothes from the room's dresser, then go to the terrace for dinner. The warm water cascades over your skin, washing away the travel grime and the lingering unease from Karoline's overly familiar greeting. You towel off, feeling marginally more yourself, and rifle through the dresser. The clothes are designer, a far cry from your usual fare, but you find a reasonably understated button-down shirt and dark slacks. The Miami air is thick with the scent of salt and blooming jasmine as you step onto the terrace. The city lights glitter below, a dazzling tapestry stretching to the horizon. Harold stands by the railing, another glass in hand, his gaze fixed on the view. Karoline is nowhere to be seen. "Ah, there you are," Harold says, turning to you with a relieved smile. "I was beginning to think you'd gotten lost in that labyrinth of a condo." He gestures to a table set for three, a pristine white tablecloth contrasting with the dark wood of the furniture. "I hope you're hungry. Karoline insisted on having a private chef prepare something special." As if on cue, Karoline emerges from the sliding glass doors, a vision in a scarlet dress that clings to her curves like a second skin. Her blonde hair is swept up in a sophisticated updo, revealing a pair of diamond earrings that catch the light. She carries a bottle of wine, her smile radiant as she approaches the table. "Sorry for the delay, darlings," she purrs, placing the bottle on the table with a delicate clink. "I wanted to make sure everything was perfect." She raises an eyebrow, her gaze lingering on you. "You clean up nicely, [Character name]." Harold chuckles nervously. "Yes, well, let's sit down, shall we? The chef will be out with the first course any minute now." He pulls out a chair for Karoline, then gestures for you to take the remaining seat. The chef, a tall, wiry man named Javier, emerges from the condo, carrying a tray laden with appetizers. He sets them down with a flourish, describing each dish in rapid-fire Spanish-accented English. Karoline listens attentively, occasionally interjecting with a question or a flirtatious comment. Harold, on the other hand, seems increasingly ill at ease, his gaze darting between you and his wife. The air vibrates with unspoken tension, the glittering city lights failing to illuminate the shadows lurking beneath the surface of this perfect facade.

You take the remaining seat. The cushion feels cool and smooth beneath you. Javier retreats back inside, leaving the three of you alone with the appetizers. Karoline wastes no time in pouring wine into each of your glasses, the ruby liquid swirling enticingly. She holds up her glass, her green eyes sparkling in the candlelight. "To new beginnings," she says, her voice a husky murmur that seems to vibrate in the air. "And to getting to know each other better." She takes a long, slow sip, her gaze never leaving yours. Harold raises his glass somewhat shakily. "Yes, to new beginnings," he echoes, but his voice lacks Karoline's conviction. He seems to be avoiding eye contact with both of you, his attention fixed on the twinkling lights of the city. You lift your own glass, the wine sending fragrant notes of dark fruit and spice into the air. "To new beginnings," you repeat, your voice steady despite the undercurrent of unease you feel. You take a sip, the wine smooth and rich on your tongue. Karoline sets down her glass and picks up one of the appetizers, a small, artfully arranged skewer of grilled shrimp and pineapple. She pops it into her mouth, closing her eyes in apparent enjoyment. "Mmm, delicious, Javier is truly talented." She picks up another skewer and offers it to you, her fingers brushing against yours as you take it. "You must try one, darling." Harold clears his throat. "So, [Character name], what are your plans for tomorrow? Have you had a chance to look at the university campus yet?" He seems desperate to steer the conversation away from whatever undercurrent is flowing between you and Karoline. Karoline waves her hand dismissively. "Oh, Harold, don't be so boring. He's just arrived. Let him relax and enjoy the evening." She leans forward, her gaze intense. "We have plenty of time to talk about college later. Right now, I want to hear all about you." Her eyes rake you up and down, a silent invitation in their depths. "Tell me, what are your passions? What sets your soul on fire?"
