The year is 2025. Seven years have passed since the Battle of Manhattan, and a fragile peace blankets the world. At Camp Half-Blood, life has settled into a rhythm of training, camaraderie, and a surprising dose of normalcy. Demigods, armed with celestial bronze and a newfound access to online retailers, navigate the complexities of teenage life alongside their godly heritage. Adam, son of Artemis, stands in the armory, the cool metal of his Ranger's sword a comforting weight in his hand. Sunlight streams through the open doorway, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. He runs a thumb along the blade's edge, a familiar gesture that soothes the ever-present ache of loneliness. At eighteen, he is a finely sculpted figure, honed by years of training. His blond hair, perpetually tousled, catches the light, and his blue eyes, usually alight with sarcastic humor, are shadowed with a quiet longing. A commotion erupts outside. Adam sighs, recognizing the belligerent shout of Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares. He sheathes his sword, the metallic click lost in the rising din. He is not looking for a fight, especially not with Clarisse, whose fiery temper rivals her father's. But trouble, it seems, has a way of finding him. He steps out of the armory and into the training yard. Clarisse stands at the center, her muscular frame radiating challenge. A group of younger campers cowers behind her, their faces a mixture of fear and fascination. Her shoulder-length hair is disheveled, and a scowl twists her features. "You think you're so tough, punk?" she snarls, her voice carrying across the yard. "Let's see how tough you are against someone who actually knows how to fight!" Adam recognizes the target of her ire: a skinny, nervous-looking son of Hermes, no older than fifteen. The kid shrinks under Clarisse's gaze, his hands trembling. Adam feels a familiar surge of protectiveness. He may be sarcastic and occasionally reckless, but he can't stand bullies. "Having trouble with the little guy, Clarisse?" Adam asks, his voice deliberately casual. He saunters into the yard, his presence immediately drawing Clarisse's attention. Her eyes narrow, and a predatory grin spreads across her face. "Adam," she says, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. "Always the hero. You looking to get your pretty face smashed in?" Adam shrugs, adopting a nonchalant stance. "Just figured you could pick on someone your own size for once." The words are out before he can stop them. He knows he's walking into a trap, but he can't resist the urge to defend the underdog. Clarisse's grin widens, revealing a flash of teeth. "Alright pretty boy, you asked for it." She cracks her knuckles, and gets into her fighting stance ready to attack Adam.

Adam then says so what did the hermes shitstain do to piss you off so early in the morning becuase it's way to early for a fight I haven't even had my morning coffee yet and your already yelling and I really dont want to fight you before breakfast anyway so can you take care of what you need to quietly please. Clarisse's eyes blaze with anger, the early morning sun reflecting off the sheen of sweat already forming on her brow. "He bumped into me, pretty boy!" she spits, gesturing dismissively towards the cowering son of Hermes. "Spilled my drink. Now he's gonna learn some respect." Adam raises an eyebrow, unimpressed. "A spilled drink? That's it? I've seen dryads do worse when they don't get their morning fertilizer. Lighten up, Clarisse. It's practically still night." He stretches languidly, feigning disinterest, though his hand instinctively moves closer to the hilt of his Ranger's sword. He really doesn't want to fight, not now, not ever if he is being honest, but he sure as hell will fight if he has to. A couple of campers start to gather, drawn by the commotion. Murmurs ripple through the small crowd. No one wants to miss a potential showdown between Adam and Clarisse. Even if Adam is at a severe disadvantage. Clarisse's face contorts in a snarl. "You always gotta stick your nose in, don't you, Adam? You think you're better than everyone else?" She takes a step forward, closing the distance between them. The air crackles with tension. "I'm gonna wipe that smirk off your face." Adam sighs dramatically. "Look, I get it. You're having a bad day. Maybe your dad forgot your birthday again, or maybe you just woke up on the wrong side of the Ares cabin. But trust me, fighting me isn't gonna make it any better. It's just going to end with you getting a headache and me feeling guilty." He glances at the son of Hermes, who is still huddled near the edge of the training yard, looking like he wants to disappear. "Tell you what," Adam says, turning back to Clarisse. "I'll buy you a new drink. Best nectar in the whole camp. How about it?" Clarisse hesitates, her anger warring with a flicker of surprise. Adam is offering a peace offering? It's not exactly the response she expected. Still, she grits her teeth. "I don't want your stupid drink," she says, her voice low and dangerous. "I want a fight. And I'm gonna get one." With that she lunges forward.

Adam side steps her and wraps his arms around her and whispers in her ear to where only she can hear 'if you stop ill do that thing that you like to you at our secret sparing spot but it's way too early for this clareese you knwo where I give you a massage so good you almost fall alseep'. A shiver runs down Clarisse's spine, her muscles momentarily slackening in his arms. The sudden intimacy, the whispered promise, catches her off guard. Her eyes widen slightly, and the rage that had been burning so fiercely seems to flicker, struggling against a different kind of heat. She glances around, acutely aware of the audience, the campers who are now practically salivating at the prospect of a brawl. "Don't you dare," she hisses back, her voice a low growl that barely carries beyond his ear. "Not here. Not now." Adam tightens his grip for a fleeting moment, a silent acknowledgment, before releasing her. He steps back, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. The change in Clarisse is subtle, but it's there. The rigid set of her shoulders softens just a fraction, the wild glint in her eyes dims ever so slightly. The surrounding campers, sensing the shift in momentum, murmur in confusion. The fight they were anticipating seems to have fizzled, replaced by an unspoken tension that they can't quite decipher. "Fine," Clarisse says, her voice regaining some of its usual gruffness. "But this isn't over, pretty boy. Not by a long shot." She throws a glare at the son of Hermes, who shrinks even further back. "You," she snarls, pointing a finger at him. "Clean up that mess. And try not to breathe in my direction again." With a final, lingering look at Adam, she turns and stomps off towards the Ares cabin, leaving a palpable wave of bewilderment in her wake. The gathered campers slowly disperse, grumbling about the anticlimactic ending to their morning entertainment. The son of Hermes, still trembling, begins to mop up the spilled drink with a shaky hand. Adam watches Clarisse's retreating figure, a mixture of amusement and relief swirling within him. He knows this fragile truce won't last, not with Clarisse. But for now, at least, he's managed to avert a full-blown battle. And maybe, just maybe, he's earned himself a very interesting massage later.
