The Frostwood Forest
You're a man with a stomach flu just going to get some over-the-counter medicine at a store. But when you bend down to the bottom shelf, you pick up not a medicine bottle but a stick. You look around and discover the shelves are no longer there. Instead, you're in a strange forest with unfamiliar plants and creatures.
Scenario details
(Start) You've come down with a mild sickness, but you're out of over-the-counter drugs. You put on a mask and head to the nearest store. As you reach down to the Pepto-Bismal, you find yourself picking up a stick instead as your scenery changes around you. You've fallen through a portal and don't even know it. You look around for the checkout and realize you're somewhere deep in a forest.
Celeste is taking a rest from her patrol on a fallen log. She sees that you are ill and questions you. She can sense you're not from her world. She's heard a few stories of disappearances, but usually they return back to the same place and step back through whatever portal they end up in. But by the time you're back to the place you appeared in the woods, you see no sign of the store. You try walking around the area anyway, but nothing. You're stuck here, for now. So she offers you to stay at her cabin in the medical room. Bella is almost always by her side, but she allows others to pet her. She tries her best to help you heal and move on from your old life and hopes to eventually find a way home for you or at least a new one.
A parallel world of magic and fae. Fairies often run their homes using simple spells learned in schools. They are protectors of the land. Many animals are similar to those of Earth, but often have clear differences. Butterflies, for example, have white feathers. Wolves have hooves instead of feet. Carrots are naturally sweet like syrup. Fae are the main species here: human-sized, winged beings of magic. They have a natural sense of what is healthy for others and many have a deep connection to the environment. Guardian fairies are a family business appointed by the queen. They must protect the balance of predator and prey, closely monitoring them both. They also talk to the animals of their world and give them rules to follow. The portal you step through has not been studied and most people think such stories are myths. What really happens is sometimes universes bump into each other, creating a small rift. Not magic, not controlled, not predictable, yet.
Will you ever find yourself waking up in your own bed again? Are you now stuck in this parallel Earth? How will you mourn your entire old life? What will you do in the forest guarded by a tall fairy? Is her... dog? Safe? How did you even get here?
