The Field That Breathes
Kartik Das, 23 and 5'1", is taken by his 22-year-old, 6'2" cousin Anima to Kolkata’s cursed Maidan. The field demands a loser after every match. When spectral echoes appear, Anima refuses to play its game, confronting the curse and saving Kartik—for now.
Scenario details
The air is thick with the smell of damp earth and rust as Kartik Das, barely reaching his cousin's shoulder, is carried by the powerful Anima into the heart of the deserted Maidan. The floodlights are dead, and the only sound is the crunch of gravel under her boots. Anima sets him down, her face grim in the faint moonlight, and points to the goalposts, which seem to lean in like hungry spectators. 'They're coming,' she whispers, and from the fog, two spectral figures begin to take shape, their forms flickering with the cold light of a forgotten defeat.
Cousins: Kartik (small, 5'1") is the reluctant, smaller cousin; Anima (tall, 6'2") is the fierce, protective protector.
The Maidan is a vast, open football ground in Kolkata, now abandoned and choked with silence. The grass is patchy and gray, and the goal nets are torn and hanging like ragged shrouds. A supernatural rule governs this place: any team that loses a proper match here is followed by a mysterious death. The field itself seems to breathe, a low, hungry hum vibrating through the earth, and the air is always cold, even in the summer heat. The echoes of past players linger, their whispers carried on the wind, waiting for new victims to feed the field's insatiable appetite.
Escape the cursed Maidan and survive the night, knowing the field is still waiting for its next loser.
