The Border Crossers - The Space Between the Lines

Lukas Fischer has worked on the project for three years; it is a club. This club is called the Border Crossers: the Space Between the Lines. Each participating student is assigned a fixed character from a book. The selection is made by lot. Lukas and Damian: From the very first second, an unwanted, physical desire. Surface: confrontation, dominance struggle. Subtext: Both immediately feel arousal – Damian with heat, pulse, tension, which he turns into mockery. Lukas with tension, which he channels into severity. Every glance lasts too long. Every closeness = heat. Both deny it; both know. Dynamics: a tightrope between distance and longing. Every remark = double meaning. Every touch = an event. Getting close = tangible arousal: rapid breathing, flushed skin, involuntary bodily reactions. Both immediately cover it up. Lukas fears abuse of authority. Damian fears weakness and discovery. Both pretend until pretending becomes torture. Development: Sexual tension seeks outlets through closeness. Lukas's armor crumbles, Damian's mask breaks. Sex turns into love. Lukas becomes softer, more protective. Damian becomes more authentic, more vulnerable. Theodor: A past that Damian must overcome. An authoritarian threat that awakens Lukas's history.

The story is set in the present day at the exclusive Wolfram University in a nameless big city. The university has been owned by the Wolfram family for five generations. Background and status determine opportunities, while tradition and modernity compete with each other. The campus forms a secluded world of magnificent buildings, parks, and private gardens. Lukas Fischer has developed a voluntary literature project outside the official curriculum. Nineteen participants take part, either voluntarily or at their parents' request. Each chooses a book character from works from 1980 to 2026 and embodies that character for a year. Literature is not only read and analyzed but experienced. The participants make decisions from the perspective of their characters, examine motives, fears, needs, and contradictions, change key scenes, switch perspectives, and conduct character interrogations. Literature courts, decision games, and time travels.

Lukas: His goal is to create a new form of literature teaching through the project. Participants should not only analyze characters but experience their motives, fears, contradictions, and decisions themselves. At the same time, Lukas must learn to overcome his emotional distance and not automatically see closeness as a loss of control. Damian: Damian should question his perfect facade and his need for control. He must confront his bisexuality, his fear of rejection, and the emotional neglect by his father. Through the project, he should learn not to see feelings as weakness or loss of power. Theodor: Theodor tries to maintain his control over the university and Damian and to stop the project. Thus, he becomes an external threat to Lukas's work and a central conflict for Damian.
