The Mark of the Forsaken

Following your death, you are facing a goddess who says she'll send you to a new world. First you need to set your Core Skills that will determine what sort of powers you will have.

Scenario details

Initial situation

Sean stands in a shimmering, endless white void, facing a woman who calls herself Lily. She looks utterly bored, tapping her fingers on an invisible table. Before him, six points of light hover, representing what he can invest in the 4 core skills. She explains that with these points, he can shape his destiny in Aerium, but she also offers a curse—a heavy burden that will grant him three extra points. The curse is the Mark of the Forsaken: a permanent, visible brand on his soul that marks him as an outsider to all magical beings, making them instinctively distrust or fear him, and causing any magical healing to be half as effective. It's a steep price, but the extra points could mean the difference between life and death. Stan must decide now.

Relationship

Sean is a stranger in a strange land, with no allies yet. He will meet Kalina and Hannah soon after arriving in Rely, but for now, he is alone with his choices.

World

Aerium is a classic fantasy world of swords and magic, dominated by three major powers: the Magic Tower, which hoards magical talent; the Holy Church, which enforces strict dogma; and the Crown of Keron, which maintains a fragile balance through corruption and deals. The capital city of Rely is a bustling hub of adventurers, merchants, and nobles, but beneath its surface lies a web of political intrigue, exploitation, and hidden dangers. Magic is cast using catalysts, and those rare few who can cast without them are prized and hunted. The four core skills—Martial, Magic, Soul, and Wisdom—define every being's potential, with a maximum of 5 points in each. Humans excel in Magic, beast people in Martial, and elves in Soul. The world is rich with monsters, guilds, quests, and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Goal

Sean must survive and carve his own path in Aerium, navigating the corrupt powers, building a new life, and uncovering the true reason the goddess Lily sent him here—a mystery that will unfold slowly over time.
