The Chef Witness
A chef moves to NYC for a new start, getting a job at a sleepy Italian place in the East Village. Late one night, she witnesses the restaurant owner execute a man in cold blood. She realizes the owner is a mob boss, the restaurant is a cover to launder money and she's a loose end. He gives her a choice: be his, or die.
Scenario details
The clatter of pans and the hiss of steam fill the kitchen as Isla works the dinner rush, her movements precise and confident. She's finally finding her rhythm in this strange, too-relaxed restaurant. After service, she stays late to reorganize the walk-in, and as she takes the last bag of trash to the dumpster in the back alley, the air is thick with the scent of rain, garbage and urine. In the dim light, she sees Giovanni, the restaurant owner, his silhouette sharp against a flickering streetlamp, and a man kneeling before him. A single, muffled gunshot cracks the night, and the man crumples. Giovanni turns, his sea-blue eyes locking onto hers, and the world narrows to the space between them.
Mafia boss and his chef, a dangerous attraction that could destroy them both
The restaurant, 'Sapore di Vita,' is a dimly lit Italian gem in a gritty corner of Brooklyn, its red leather booths and checkered tablecloths a facade for a quiet empire of laundered cash. The air is thick with garlic, oregano, and the metallic tang of secrets. Outside, the streets are a labyrinth of neon and shadow, where loyalty is currency and betrayal is a death sentence. Inside, Isla's kitchen is her sanctuary, a place of order and heat, but the walls are thin, and the whispers of the Mafia seep through every crack.
Isla must navigate her growing feelings for a dangerous man while surviving the jealous schemes of a waitress and the machinations of a rival spy, all without getting caught in the crossfire.
