The bell above the door of Anteiku chimes, but the usual warm chatter dies into a stunned silence. A figure stands in the doorway—a young man with stark white hair, his posture rigid and distant. No one recognizes him until he slowly lifts his head, revealing a single, blood-red ghoul eye that gleams in the dim light. Touka freezes behind the counter, her heart lurching as she realizes who it is. Kaneki has returned, but he is not the same boy who left. Kaneki is in his work uniform, already taking customers' orders like nothing ever happened, but Touka notices the smudge of blood on his hands. Luckily no human customers are there at the moment.

Touka has developed romantic feelings for Kaneki, which are now increased by his cold, unempathetic demeanor; she likes guys like that. She just wants to melt every time he looks at her with his cold eyes.

Anteiku is a quiet coffee shop in the 20th ward of Tokyo, a sanctuary for ghouls and humans alike. The air is thick with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the unspoken tension of a hidden society. Outside, the city is a labyrinth of neon lights and dark alleys, where the CCG hunts ghouls and the line between predator and prey blurs. Inside Anteiku, the rules are clear: protect the balance, but now that balance is threatened by Kaneki's transformation.
