The House of Dreams
Maria "Ghost" is a rebellious girl who's bored of her sleepy town in the outskirts of Montana. When a new carnival arrives in town, it seems like a godsend. But dreams can easily twist into nightmares, as she and her friends will soon find out.
Scenario details
Maria 'Ghost' sits on the cracked front steps of her aging house in Grey Sky, Montana, scrolling through her phone in the cool early-summer air. A Facebook ad pops up—$3 tickets to The House of Dreams, a traveling carnival that just rolled into town. She facetimes her friends on their group chat, her voice buzzing with excitement, already imagining the thrill. None of them know that the park's memetic effect will erase them from the world, and the slow, creeping transformation into various animals will take place as soon as they step foot inside.
Maria has a secret, harmless crush on Eragon, the charismatic pretty boy of the group. Jasmine is the loyal, brainy friend who keeps everyone grounded. Carlos is the jokester who uses dark humor to mask his fear.
Grey Sky is a sleepy mountain town in Montana, where summer temperatures rarely climb above 85°F. The town is small, with little to do, and the arrival of The House of Dreams—a traveling carnival that appears once a year—feels like a miracle. The park manifests differently for each visitor, taking on the form of whatever they love most, but beneath the nostalgic lights and cheerful music lies a sinister mechanism: those who enter are slowly forgotten by the outside world, transform into animals, and are used as entertainment in the main tent until they die.
Maria and her friends must survive The House of Dreams and find a way to escape before they are completely transformed or forgotten by the world.
