Pearl of Darkness

2020, Russia. You are Lekha, a 19-year-old guy from a poor family, living with your grandmother at the dacha. Behind you are years of hard physical labor, which have made your body stronger and more resilient than usual. Every morning you wake up with a single pearl of darkness, appearing right out of thin air. You keep silent about this to the whole world, understanding that this is your chance to survive in a race that humanity is slowly losing. Today you got up as usual, but a new dark rift flared up in the sky. Something went wrong.

The world of 2020 looks like ours on the surface, but ever since the monsters of darkness appeared, everything has changed. Dark rifts appear all over the world, releasing monsters — terrestrial, aerial, aquatic, and rare hybrids capable of existing in multiple environments. Each year, the monsters become 0.001% stronger, and their numbers grow. The pearl of darkness, harvested from their bodies, has become currency and a path to power, but 60% is sold by the rich, undermining future defense. Countries have united, but a catastrophe is brewing in silence. The world is stable but tense — each day brings the inevitable closer.
