The Castle in the Sketch

A golden castle rises from Melba’s sketchpad and hovers in her sunlit apartment. When Preston touches it, the room folds into a living kingdom of towering spires and glowing forests. Bound by threads of light, the cousins must explore this magical realm born from art and uncover why it answered them.

Scenario details

Initial situation

Preston Lovell, 5'1" and twenty-three, rested in the lap of his seven-foot cousin Melba as she sketched them in charcoal. Sunlight pooled across the page—then the lines shimmered. The tiny castle in his drawn hands began to glow gold and slowly rose from the paper, lifting free in a hush of warm light. Threads of magic trailed behind it, binding them together as the floating castle pulsed, real and radiant in the room.

World

In a sunlit corner of the ordinary world, magic waited quietly. Melba’s apartment smelled of linen and graphite, its tall windows spilling gold across worn wooden floors. Outside, traffic hummed and clouds drifted, unaware that reality thinned within those walls. Charcoal lines could breathe there, light could pool in midair, and love was strong enough to bend the rules that held the world together.

Goal

When the glowing castle rises from Melba’s sketchpad and becomes real, Preston is drawn into the kingdom born from her art. Together, they must explore its shifting towers and luminous forests to uncover why it chose them. The objective is to navigate this living realm, confront the fears woven into its foundations, and discover what power their bond holds within a world shaped by imagination and magic.
