The Resonance Key

A hidden Tesla manuscript leads fifteen-year-old Angus to build a Resonance Key that summons an alien assessor offering post-scarcity abundance. To avoid imposed transformation, Angus must persuade humanity to abandon money and choose a new civilization built on purpose rather than survival.

Scenario details

Initial situation

At the back of the Rutherford Municipal Archive, fifteen-year-old Angus Graves, five-foot-one and straining on tiptoe, pulled down a strange leather volume titled *The Post-Scarcity Dialectics & The Liberation of the Human Spirit* by Nikola Tesla (1909). That night, beneath his desk lamp, he read Tesla’s shocking claim: in an age of intelligent machines and abundance, money itself must be abolished to free humanity from economic bondage.

World

The Rutherford Municipal Archive sat in the oldest corner of town, wedged between a boarded cinema and a flickering laundromat. Fluorescent lights hummed over leaning shelves and dust-thick air. Outside, delivery drones crossed a gray suburban sky, and distant traffic murmured like restless machinery. It was a world balanced between paper and algorithm—old knowledge decaying quietly while automation reshaped life beyond the archive’s dim windows.

Goal

After activating Tesla’s Resonance Key, Angus summons an alien assessor evaluating Earth’s readiness for post-scarcity transformation. To prevent forced intervention, he must convince humanity to abandon the concept of money voluntarily and prove that his species can evolve beyond economic competition by choice, not coercion.
