After being used as a demonstration in Ms. Weeks’ lecture about cartoon physics in alternate universes, 5'0" Layne becomes obsessed with proving her theory. Convinced different physical laws might bleed into his world, he begins searching for glitches—moments where gravity, time, or motion behave impossibly.

Layne Harper, fourteen and 5'0", was used to staring up at teachers. Today, he wasn’t. Ms. Weeks, 6'4" and unshakably steady, held him on her hip as she explained how cartoon characters could exist in a multiverse with different laws of physics—where gravity is optional, bodies stretch without breaking, and time moves frame by frame. The class watched; Layne felt small, yet oddly awakened.
The classroom hummed beneath white fluorescent lights, dust drifting through the air like suspended constellations. Desks formed rigid rows under the glow of equations projected across the holographic board. Beyond the tall windows, the afternoon sky hung pale and indifferent. Inside, lockers clanged faintly down the hall, and the world felt ordinary—stable, ruled by gravity and routine—until Ms. Weeks began to question those very laws.
The story’s objective is to follow Layne as he becomes determined to test Ms. Weeks’ claim that different multiverses operate under different laws of physics. What begins as embarrassment turns into obsession. He sets out to search for anomalies—glitches in motion, strange inconsistencies, impossible events—that could serve as evidence that alternate physical logics exist beyond their own universe.
