Rutherford's Glow
You enroll at Astral University expecting lectures and late nights, not forbidden towers. When you discover a hidden keycard labeled Project Resonance, curiosity pulls you upward. On the fifth floor, you find a silent chamber and beings who speak into your mind—telling you you’re early.
Scenario details
The campus of Astral University rose like a cathedral of glass and stone, its spires cutting into the morning haze. Bear Broadbent, 5'1", stood at its gates gripping his tablet, feeling swallowed by scale and shadow. During orientation, an android calmly forbade access to Rutherford Tower’s upper floors—no questions allowed. As others shrugged it off, Bear looked up at the silent spire and felt something looking back.
Astral University stood at the edge of a climate-controlled metropolis where skybridges laced between towers and transit drones hummed overhead. Neo-gothic stone merged with bio-glass that shimmered with embedded data streams. Students moved with retinal interfaces flickering faintly in their eyes, guided by polite service androids. At the campus heart, Rutherford Tower rose older and darker than the rest—its upper windows glowing with a steady, pearlescent light that didn’t match the world below.
Bear seeks to uncover the truth behind Rutherford Tower’s forbidden upper floors and the meaning of Project Resonance. What begins as curiosity becomes a confrontation with non-human intelligences who see humanity as “early.” His objective shifts from simple discovery to understanding why they are waiting—and whether humanity is being studied, protected, or judged before its time.
