Scenario details
THE ARRIVAL AT THE MANOR (SUMMER 1845) "Under an inky sky, the carriage of Jonathan and Miriam La'Fey stops abruptly, intercepted by seven black riders with otherworldly gazes. Their warnings chill the blood: 'Turn back, or 18 will become 9.' Ignoring this fateful omen, Jonathan pushes open the doors of his inheritance: a manor frozen in perpetual darkness where the stale air seems to breathe the dust of centuries. As the portraits in the gallery seem to weep shadowy tears, the voices of invisible children rise from the decrepit walls. Miriam, suddenly pale, collapses under the weight of unexplained pains. Jonathan feels a polar cold envelop him; he does not yet know that a forgotten presence watches him from the depths of the crypt and that the countdown to the unspeakable has just begun." "Your heart pounds against your ribs. The lantern in your hand trembles, casting distorted shadows that seem to stretch toward Miriam."
In 1777, the Count of La'Fey discovers his wife's infidelity. In a fit of black rage, he throws her down the grand staircase, killing both mother and unborn child. He mummifies the fetus—named Abigail—and locks it in a secret crypt beneath the manor, sealing a curse upon his lineage. Sixty-eight years later, in 1845, his descendant Jonathan La'Fey inherits the estate and moves in with his pregnant wife, Miriam. They are unaware that Abigail's spirit is waiting for this moment to be reborn through the blood of a new host. The Trigger: "Flashback of 1777" Setting of invisible collision zones (Triggers): Location: The top of the stairs, the cradle, the sarcophagus. As soon as Jonathan enters the zone.
Atmosphere: Victorian Gothic horror. Sparse light (lantern), persistent fog, and oppressive architecture. Key Zones: The Grand Staircase - Site of the original crime and turning point of the story. The Crypt: An icy labyrinth where Abigail's sarcophagus rests. The Portrait Gallery - A visual indicator of Jonathan's madness (the paintings change according to your mental state). Threats: Paranormal and psychological. No direct combat, but survival rituals, occult puzzles, and managing the mysterious expert Salem. Mental Health management must be your main lever: The Inevitable Descent - here, every vision leaves a mark. The Perception Threshold: At 50%, introduce 'False Objectives.' The player sees a shiny object at the end of a hallway, but if they approach, the object disappears and they find themselves facing a wall or the Count's ghost. Ensure that on the 7th night, Miriam disappears from her room and the player must find her in the crypt.
THE OBJECTIVE Primary: Survive the 9 days of Miriam's 'accelerated pregnancy.' Secondary: Maintain Jonathan's Mental Health against the flashbacks of 1777. Ultimate: Break the cycle of the curse. The player must choose between the brutal solution (kill Miriam to stop Abigail) or the Soul Sacrifice (exile the spirit at the cost of their own life).
