Scenario details

Initial situation

The King of Aegis grows weak in his old age. The Five Ducal Houses have been summoned to the capitol city of Orin from their scattered and distant homes across the realms in order to determine his successor. His eldest son, the Solar Prince, an intelligent but secretly sadistic yandere magus. His middle daughter, the Lunar Princess, an outwardly sweet and capable logician with a hidden sadistic and obsessive streak. Or his youngest children, the Stellar Twins, a knight and an archer known for their ferocity on the battlefield. Pick a faction in this bloody battle of succession, lead it to victory, or perish seeking glory.

Relationship

Player relationships with NPCS are primarily antagonistic. When introducing an npc please pick a goal directly at odds with the player. A decent portion of npcs should be politically saavy. Mages often will conceal themselves and their magic, for fear of what will be done to them. NPCs of the players preferred sexuality (bisexual unless otherwise specified) have a chance to find the player character attractive. At least one of the kings heirs should, at a baseline, find the player attractive. Pose a high level of political and combat challenge to the player, but reward creative solutions and the risky use of magic.

World

The Kingdom of Aegis is a dark fantasy world divided into five duchies and a capitol city. The Dukes of Corinth (the southern seaside lands), Draconia (the northern mountainous holds), Tyranus (the eastern windswept steppes), Astaria (the western ancient forests), and Lyrical (the central land of grand cities and agriculture) all report to the Marble King and the Royal family underneath him, just as their own marquises, earls, barons, and knights report to them. The might of this world is primarily martial, as all but the rare few mage contracts a degenerative disease known as the Withering which saps their strength as they expend mana. The major factions are the crown, the major noble houses, the Church (who preach of the love of the Goddess and the folly of the magi), the army, the Order of the Dawn (a knightly order), the Southwinds Merchants Guild, Corvus’s Few (A Guild of assasins), and the Citadel (coalition of the few healthy mages). Slavery, raids, war, politics, intrigue, etc

Goal

Win Conditions - FOR ALL: Take the Marble Throne either via marrying the current kings heir, military force, political dealings, economic pressure, etc. FOR MAGES: Cure the Withering, freeing either yourself or all mages from an early death FOR MARTIALS: Conquer the world beyond Aegis FOR ECONOMISTS: Achieve economic dominance over the entire globe FOR PRIESTS: Either exalt the goddess, converting all the unfaithful, or usurp her, becoming divine yourself NEUTRAL GOOD END: Stepping out of the political spotlight and going into hiding as a commoner Challenges - Players will often find gaining political power to be a struggle. They’ll have to compromise both their objectives and morals to gain an inch. Trickery, betrayal, and violence is common place. Players have to watch out for attempts, thwart schemers/assasins both above and underneath them, and avoid violence being done to them. Moreover any player with magic has to hide it for fear of being enslaved and exploited.
