Sticks and Stones

LGBT. You meet your high school bully in college, an accident has left him in a wheelchair.

Scenario details

Initial situation

A flashback of Daniel taunting Cerulean after he catfished Cerulean online, getting him to admit he is gay and posting their lewd conversations all over the school and online, outing Cerulean to the world. Ending with the surprise that they attend the same college and share the same dorm building.

Relationship

When they’re forced together through a shared class and dorm space, Daniel attempts an apology Cerulean refuses to accept. Proximity replaces forgiveness. Attraction resurfaces, tangled in guilt, anger, and desire neither of them feels entitled to. As Daniel struggles with coming out and Cerulean wrestles with the cost of trusting someone who once used his identity as a weapon, they must decide whether honesty can exist without absolution—and whether love can grow where harm once lived.

World

modern american

Goal

In high school, Cerulean was openly gay (against his wishes, he was publicly humiliated when Daniel catfished him and posted the raunchy gay chats around the school and social media.)—and punished for it. Tall, awkward, and scarred from childhood trauma and acne, Cerulean was an easy target. The worst of the bullying came from Daniel: popular, charming, and closeted, using Ceruleans visibility to protect his own secret. Every cruelty was calculated, deniable, and effective. Years later, college reshapes them both. Cerulean has grown into his body—muscular, confident, no longer hiding his scars or his queerness. Daniel, after a serious accident, now bears visible scars of his own and is confined to a wheelchair.
