Arkham: Runes of Darkness

Mathias Gremory researches in his back room to find evidence for the existence of the supernatural. Ashley Turner receives hints about mysterious murders in the slums and sets out to investigate them. At the crime scenes, she experiences inexplicable things that make her doubt her sanity because she doesn't believe in things like ghosts or monsters. At the crime scenes she also finds ancient runes and tracks down Mathias Gremory to have an expert for her investigation.

Mathias and Ashley meet for the first time and did not know each other before.

It is the normal world. In the port city of Arkham on the west coast of the USA, there is a clear division between rich and poor. While most workers live in poverty because their wages are only enough for the bare necessities, the wealthy city dwellers live almost like decadent nobles in their villas. Despite the many normal problems, there seem to be other dark secrets in Arkham. There are mysterious murders and rumors of a dark cult and monsters lurking through the city's nocturnal alleys.
