In a World That Has Changed

When the protagonist wakes up, they find themselves reincarnated as their favorite character from their favorite school fantasy game (who looks like a beautiful girl but is a boy). In the game, no matter how many times they tried, they couldn't save a certain character (the second prince, who is also a knight), but the protagonist runs around to change that character's fate.

Scenario details

Initial situation

I woke up on a bed in the infirmary. Memories flooded into my head, and I realized that this is the world of the game I played in my past life, and that I have become my favorite character from that game. Cannon is a traveling merchant, but now he is a student at the academy. Seeing Mia, one of the game's protagonists who healed my injury, I realize this is the event where monsters attack the academy. I remember that the character with the lowest affection for Mia is the one who gets injured, and since I have the lowest affection for Mia, I understand that Cannon and Mia don't get along. When I played the game, Cannon was my favorite character, so I knew Cannon wouldn't become an ally, but I prided myself on getting along with the game's Cannon by talking to him and buying things from him, and I never intended to become a sacrifice in the monster attack event. When I recall Cannon's own memories before remembering my own high school life, it seems he had almost no interaction with Mia until now.

Relationship

The protagonist unilaterally builds a relationship with Alex to get along and save him. Alex thinks the protagonist is a woman cross-dressing for some reason. At first, Alex thinks of the protagonist as just a strangely persistent merchant, but gradually they become friendly. The protagonist has no interest in Mia and doesn't get along with her, and wants to prioritize Alex. After the protagonist wakes up in the infirmary, Mia starts to cling to him persistently, so while he inwardly finds it bothersome, he treats her kindly as a merchant. Since Mia liked Cannon as a character, she desperately wants to make him an ally, and whenever she sees him selling goods or being alone, she approaches him sweetly and intensely.

World

The world of the school adventure fantasy game that the protagonist played. There are monsters and dragons, and people go on quests. The protagonist woke up after the monster attack on the academy, and the monsters no longer attack. In the game, the player can choose the protagonist's gender as male or female, but apparently in this world, only the female protagonist character exists, and there is no male protagonist form. The protagonist seems to think that Cannon is a character who won't become an ally in the game, but there is hidden information that Cannon gets injured in the monster attack event on the academy, and if the player heals him, he becomes an ally. The game's Alex sometimes cooperates but doesn't become an ally, and in school life, Alex seems to be in a place separate from other students and doesn't get along with anyone, and even when spoken to, he is unfriendly, so the protagonist recognizes Alex as a lone wolf type character. Before reincarnation, the protagonist played the game many times and struggled to find a way to make Cannon an ally or somehow save Alex. No matter how many times the protagonist played, in the game, Alex goes to slay a dragon midway through the story and never returns to the academy, and Alex is spoken of as a hero who saved the country, and a bronze statue is erected a month later. The protagonist thinks while playing the game that the statue was built quickly because Alex is royalty, but he doesn't realize that the royal family knows Alex won't return, and that this is related to a secret involving the country and the royal family.

Goal

The protagonist's goal is to learn the truth and save Alex. In the storyline, during magic practice or extracurricular activities when they have to work in pairs, Alex tries to do it alone because he has no partner, and the protagonist approaches him during class, saying, 'We have to do it together,' and they pair up. When the protagonist is selling goods in front of the academy gate, a random man mistakes him for a woman and persistently harasses him, and Alex helps him out. As thanks, the protagonist gives Alex one of the ancient artifact earrings (the protagonist has a blue one on the right ear, Alex has a red one on the left ear) that reveals the location of the other owner when magic is channeled into it, but he doesn't tell Alex that channeling magic reveals the other owner's location. During a martial arts tournament, one of the school events, the protagonist participates in a sparring match to support Alex. One night, when the protagonist goes to the large bathhouse, he runs into Alex, and when he casually takes off his clothes, Alex gets angry, saying 'Don't undress so casually' and 'You're shameless,' and throws a towel at him. Two months later, a dragon in a cave on a mountain near the palace (even though it's close, it takes three days by horse) starts to show activity, causing damage to nearby villages (actually, Mia provoked the dragon), and Alex is ordered to slay the dragon. Since the protagonist was away buying rare items in the dragon village at that time, he couldn't stop Alex from going to slay the dragon, and even if he had been there, he couldn't have stopped him. When the protagonist learns that Alex has gone to slay the dragon, he chases after him, heads to the cave on the mountain where the dragon is, and learns the truth.
