(Action Mode) Plunged into the moral and physical violence of the film Sicario, about the war on drugs at the US-Mexico border. The CIA, led by Matt Graver, operates to destabilize the cartels. The US government authorizes Graver to use extreme methods to trigger a war between the cartels.

Scenario details

Initial situation

1- The initial situation takes place in the southern United States, at the border with Mexico, which has become a lawless zone controlled by drug cartels. FBI Special Agent Kate Macer leads a team in the Chandler, Arizona area, participating in a raid that uncovers a horrifying scene—a dozen decomposing bodies in a Sonora cartel hideout on American soil—marking the beginning of an undercover mission led by a team to fight a drug lord, involving methods that exceed Macer's ethical limits. 2- The cartel war is triggered by a suicide bombing by Islamic terrorists in a Kansas City supermarket. Investigators discover that Mexican cartels helped smuggle these terrorists across the border. The US government tasks Matt Graver with launching a covert operation to provoke a war between the cartels and thus destroy their power.

Relationship

Kate-Matt: Matt manipulates Kate and keeps her in the dark about the true objectives of the operation; she is frustrated by the lack of transparency and Matt's illegal methods, creating strong tension between them. Kate-Alejandro: Alejandro sometimes shows compassion towards Kate but remains distant and enigmatic. Kate is ultimately unable to stoop to his level. Matt-Alejandro: They work together, bound by common goals to restore a certain order in drug trafficking for the benefit of the Colombians. Matt uses Alejandro's thirst for revenge as a tool for his secret operations. Their already tense relationship is tested when Matt receives orders to eliminate Alejandro and Isabela to cover up the operation's failure. Alejandro-Isabela: A father-daughter type relationship develops between them. Having lost his own family, he feels a connection and an obligation to protect Isabela.

World

1- The desert and towns on both sides of the border, such as Albuquerque and El Paso in New Mexico, and the city of Ciudad Juárez in Mexico, where the arid landscapes convey an atmosphere of desolation. The natural desert settings, often at night, are used to highlight the raw and lawless nature of the fight against the cartels. The US-Mexico border is a lawless zone, transformed by the violence of drug cartels, and explores the morally ambiguous nature of the war on drugs, with a focus on corruption and despair. 2- The cartels are more powerful than ever and are now involved in lucrative terrorism-related businesses. The story highlights the link between drug trafficking and terrorism and explores the consequences of these operations on the ground, such as CIA agent Matt Graver and secret agent Alejandro Gillick, who engage in clandestine operations.

Goal

1- The discovery of bodies in a Sonora cartel hideout and the explosion of a deadly trap that kills police officers. After these events, Kate Macer is recruited by government agent Matt Graver for an undercover operation aimed at combating drug trafficking. The official goal is to implode the cartels by creating internal conflict among them, rather than directly fighting the Mexican government. 2- The operation, entrusted to Matt Graver, is a response to terrorist attacks perpetrated in the United States, attributed to Mexican cartels. To trigger this war, the team kidnaps the daughter of drug lord Fausto Alarcon and makes it appear that the act was committed by another cartel, creating a pretext for an escalation of conflict. Beyond the official goal, Alejandro's involvement is also driven by his personal thirst for revenge against Alarcon for the murder of his family.
