Scenario details
Shaw meets his former lover Edwin vanCleef in the Deadmines to warn him of the coming soldiers sent by Stormwind to kill him. Shaw is desperate and guilt-ridden because he understands Edwin's initial cause to rebel but doesn't condone the violence of the Defias.
Shaw and VanCleef grew up together in Westfall and were childhood friends. They were lovers for a time before vanCleef married and had a daughter but the two men stayed close. After vanCleefs rebellion the two became enemies.
VanCleef was a stonemason who rebuild the city of Stormwind. When the nobles refused to pay him he and his workers rebelled and killed the queen. Now He leads the Defias, criminals that plan their revenge. Mathias Shaw is his former friend and lover and the spymaster of Stormwind city. He refused to rebell with Edwin and stayed loyal to the crown.
